After spending five intense years working for post houses in Brazil, Rick moved to London at 22 joining The Mill as a CG Supervisor before teaming up with Mario Ucci at Passion Pictures as an Art Director/CG Supervisor and subsequently Creative Director. They both then collaborated on several award winning projects for Coca-Cola, Jack Daniels, Toyota and most notably the Gorillaz Music Videos and the BBC Olympics 2012 film. In 2014 they opened Red Knuckles as a gateway to more extensively collaborate with other artists around the globe and develop original content.
Originally a fine art painter, Mario started with computers late in the game at the age of 26. Moved to London in 2003, working in companies such as The Mill, MPC and Passion -Pictures where he became creative director after participating in projects such as Gorillaz, the BBC Olympics film and hundreds of ads. Started Red Knuckles with Rick Thiele in 2014 with the purpose of choosing projects and artists to collaborate with and the goal of creating original content.
New Business Producer
After 5 years as a drummer and manager in the music industry, an opportunity to move into commercial production presented itself in 2012. Making mainly fast food commercials for the best part of a year, Tom decided to follow a childhood passion and move into Animation. After stints in the CG and Production departments at Not To Scale, Passion and Nexus, he’s found his home here at Red Knuckles.
Illustrator / Studio Manager
After graduating from Ballyfermot College of Further Education in Dublin, Becky moved out to London in 2016 with hopes of carving a path as an illustrator and concept artist. It wasn’t long until she met Rick and Mario, who welcomed her quirky style with open arms. As Becky says herself, ‘essentially I like to draw freakish gremlins and people who look like they need a good meal’; with Red Knuckles’ focus being on fresh and original content, it has been a great fit for this off-beat point of view.
